Peachtree Road at 6:00am [North Buckhead]
I haven’t run since January of this year. Part of it was due to injury, but it was mostly that my attention went to cycling instead. But since my accident just over a month ago, I haven’t been able to do anything on the road. And cycling is on hold until I can (1) straighten my arm out enough, and (2), not cry when my wrist moves.
But I can run.
For the first time in 9 months, I rolled out of bed early (5am), grabbed the DS Trainers and went for a run. It was the both the worst and best 35 minutes in a long time. My ribs still hurt, so the impact of the running was something to deal with. But I was running. And that’s what mattered. Every step was moving me further from where I had been, and closer to something else. I ran without music, which I love to do; the sounds of the city waking up is a good enough soundtrack.
I will be back tomorrow, for sure.
I’m proud of you. Your determination is impressive and completely admirable.
Cool man, glad you are moving.
I second the running without music. Plus, music makes me push to hard for some reason, I can’t just run.
